Thanks for the reply, it's Win11 Pro running on a tiny mini computer. I bought it new from Amazon for $100 and it came with the OS per installed. I"m amazed at how well it is dragging Win11 around, it's only a dual core with 8GB ram.Where do you have it installed and where are you trying to copy files from? Likely a permissions error. What version of Win11?
Error 0x80004005 might occur due to incorrect file or folder permissions. To fix this, right-click the problematic file or folder, select “Properties,” and then go to the “Security” tab. Click “Edit” to modify permissions and ensure your user account has full control. Apply the changes and close the properties window.
While in File Explorer, go to the directory you want to create a folder, then right click in a clear area within File Explorer, and choose NEW, then Folder and give it a name. That simple.I don't get Windows way of making new folders.
Thanks, I had forgotten about 7zip. That's what I used on my Win10 system and did not have any trouble with it. Still have the install on the USB drive. Don't even need to download - DOH!Have had my DSDPlus sit in a folder right on c drive but now it lives in a OneDrive folder. On win 10 never had an issue extracting the updates anywhere. Not sure what you use but the built in windows extractor is known to cause issues with Fastlane updates. 7 Zip works perfect and have heard Win RAR does to. Neither are products on Microsoft. I would try with either of them and see if you get the same error.
The clear area is the part I skipped over. Will try again with 7zip and this time put it into it's own directory. The Downloads is not a good place as it's going to get cluttered. While in File Explorer, go to the directory you want to create a folder, then right click in a clear area within File Explorer, and choose NEW, then Folder and give it a name. If you want a new folder on the desktop, go to a clear area, right click, then New then Folder, and give it a name.
The goal was to have a SDR P25 system that I can start from another computer freeing up the monitor, keyboard and quite a lot of space.
I use Chrome Remote to control the laptop I have SDRTrunk running on when at home and when on the road. Works Great!I'm not sure how well it would work on Windows 11, but on Linux I used Chrome Remote Desktop
I use Chrome RDT as well for SDRTrunk as well as several Whistler/GRE and Uniden scanners on a mini-PC with no issues.I use Chrome Remote to control the laptop I have SDRTrunk running on when at home and when on the road. Works Great!
I will review the system requirements for the two remote programs and see if it might work on limited bandwidth (WiFi 2.4 abt 60Mbps)I use Team Viewer and or Real VNC (have both installed) to connect to Raspberry Pi and 2 headless Windows towers.
Thanks for the tips, just tried it on Win11 and found it works if you are already in one of the pre made directories like Documents or Music Ect.A couple tips Windows-wise....Ctrl+Shift+n will make a new folder in whatever directory you are in. That also lets you name it immediately.
7z...this is only really useful if the directory does not exsist.....right click and extract files....use the file location path to edit the folder destination, not the file tree. The dir will be created if it does not exsist.
Hopefully all of that is still true in Win11!! I havent done it yet
I've used WinRar for decades, never had an issue with FastLane updates. It also gives you an option to autofill your FastLane password which you need to extract the update files7 Zip works perfect and have heard Win RAR does to.
I do not like a cluttered desktop so that's why I was trying to install someplace else. Ended up extracting to Music and it's working fine when started by clicking on the BAT files I made. You're best bet with DSDplus is just to either create a folder on the desktop or in the root of the drive (c:\dsdsplus for example). Certain directory structures pre-made by windows have file permissions on them that will prohibit proper operation.
I always avoid putting DSDplus in paths like c:\users\* or c:\program files\* or c:\program files (x86)\*

Did have issues running from the CMD prompt so I'm going to give up on using a ssh session to start from another computer.
Having the mini PC hooked up to the VGA port on the monitor is actually working very well - way better then trying to run Windows program from Wine on Linux or using a dual boot.
