Dsp 1.2

Okay I got my PSR-500 yesterday and I need to know what I am doing wrong. I installed the CPU 1.2 with no problem, but I am having a problem with the DSP I check to see if the I was using the wrong port, but I am not. For some reason I can not get the new version to load. Any thoughts?

Give this a try and you will probably get it. As you download the Cpu there are directions in 2 of the files that are in with the download of the CPU. The DSP is the same way but you have to access it a different way. Read the 2 help and install files it gives you specific directions and you shouldnt have any problems. Ive done mine and 2 others over the phone. Give it a try and let me know............Hoser

No Try

Okay I went back and look at the pdf and word file and they both said the same thing. So I hook up scanner and went to do DSP and got this" no response(or incomplete response) from the scanner, please retry step 1"

I e-mailed GRE yesterday and have not heard back from them, so I am still at a loss.

Check to make sure you have the right comm port listed and it should test your scanner connection on the download page.

Follow the instructions step-by-step on the application, and tell us where exactly it's giving you an issue. The key combos on the radio are not the same for both installs.

The TEST will go thru with the right comm port entered. turn the scanner off. Turn it back on and with the Welcome screen showing, press 0, pgm ,enter in that order, that will put it in DSP mode. Press Install. If you have remote v scanner files open dont turn the scanner off press F1 instead and the scanner will reboot. Hoser

Holding program button while I turn on scanner Then I downloaded the first one CPU 1.2, I check to see what port I was using and it said COM 21 I then downloaded CPU and had no problems. Holding program button and turn scanner on and then did a test to see if I could install DSP 1.2 I then get a error message saying no response from the scanner. Using same port, com 21 as I did for CPU 1.2

That step is not correct for the DSP upgrade. The DSP upgrade app does not tell you to do this.

I went to my control panel and look at the usb ports under device manger. I un plug the cable and plug it back in to make sure i using the right port, and I am. I then extracted the DSP 1.2 and put it on my desk top to see if ot would work and it would not.

Thanks DonS, I went back and read the instructions again, but this time with patience and also slow. It is now installed, I did it by just taken my time and reading the steps and taking my time. Thanks everyone for helping me out. This is my first scanner outside of Radioshack, so right now I am a little more critical of this scanner.

Thank you I had the same thing going on and this worked fine for me.
