Pro-668 *Bricked*

Anyone know how to get a Pro-668 working again?

It was working fine yesterday but wanted to try and update to the Whistler 1080 firmware in case they go out of biz again.

I only tried this because the Pro-668 to WS1080 "Legacy" upgrade is no longer available on the Whistler site.

While attempting the update, my Pro-668 now gets stuck on the following screen:
uP BootVer: RF1.1
uP App Ver: NONE
CPU SW Upgrade: Waiting for USB

I reinstalled the Pro-668 software and reformatted the memory card for initial use with the Pro-668 to no avail. I think I am (for lack of a better term) stuck on the BIOS screen.

I was hoping to find the DSP/App for the Pro-668 to see if I can manually load it, but haven't been able to find it from a reputable source. Anyone know where I can find this or has a validated link that works?

At this point, I am not trying to update to the WS1080, I am just trying to get back to the Pro-668.

Thoughts, suggestions?

You are missing and need the CPU firmware. That is the meaning of uP App Ver: NONE. The DSP (Digital Signal Processing) firmware just does decoding.

Have you tried contacting Whistler: legacyupgrade@whistlergroup.com Whistler upgraded a PSR-800 I sent to them for $100.

Do recall having one like that years back with the same uP App Ver: NONE and somehow I was able to fix it.
Think it was a Pro-18 using GREFwToolWin0.3.1.5.

You need the official Whistler legacy upgrade to update a Radioshack PRO-668 to the latest Whistler WS-1080 firmware. Using the unofficial upgrade will keep you locked at CPU 4.5 and DSP 3.1 with no upgrade ability.

and works great for several years too.. and cant tell the difference between an official (668) and unofficial v4.5 DSP 3.2 (18)

i was JUST able to reflash mine to Whistler 1080 3.8

if you have python 3.x installed i can send you everything you need. took me weeks to figure it out but have a fullly working bootloader. and a repository of many different versions.

as long as the scanner still says "waiting for usb" you are not ****ed yet.

hey also, if you contact Whistler directly through their website email tell them you wanna upgrade your pro 668, they'll send you a link with payment information it's $100 now as long as it doesn't have any unauthorized firmware and then I think it's another $50 if the firmware is authentic and they give you an address to send your scanner to
