I know I'm in the minority, but I absolutely hate the iCom software. Programing the radio to use DSTAR is a joke. I have spent hours and hours trying to change my frequency of a new hotspot on the ID-52 radio with the programing software and front panel programing with no success. I have completely reset the radio and it continued to error with Duplicate Call Sign. Try to edit and it will skip the Repeater memory forever. Go into the menu and remove the skip and you get a beep and it wont accept. After I spent 9 hours and wasted my day, I smashed the radio to pieces and dented the siding of my house with it. I thought DMR was a nightmare to program when I first started out in digital but nothing like this iCom I had. Between the top knob binding and had to send back for a replacement to the LED light popping off I'm staying away from iCOM and will just cross-mode with the OpenSpot 4 Pro with my other radios. I hope all of you have much better success with your iCom radios. It's prolly more the horrible DTSAR technology than it is the iCom itself. Whoever thought adding spaces after your call sign instead of building the logic into the code must have been on crack that day. :)

I've not had any issues with my 52 or 705. Never used any software for programming. There's plenty of YouTube videos describing how to set up a hotspot.

The ID52 is pretty straightforward to program, both from the front panel and from the software. The latter has quirks but they aren’t complicated.

if you want to smash your own property then that’s up to you but it might have been better to ask for help and/or download one of the example sets of DR memories that are available to see how they are laid out.

DStar is good.

Sounds like you have an idea on how it should work. But it doesn't work that way.

Watch a video or two.

I've heard N8LN, Terry help a lot of operators with DSTAR.

I second on Terry, He helped me gets squared a way getting my DStar account straightened out and was a huge help getting my ZUMspot to work flawlessly. A true Elmer.
