If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone have the DTR update tool for the DTR700 to bring it to firmware version R01.04.00?

I just picked up some new 700s and the are on 1.04. My older radios are 1.03 and I wanted to update them.

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to bump this one up as well - I was showing 1.02.03 as the latest for the DTR700 but this must be wrong... @Tim118 do you show release notes on 1.04? Any luck finding the update tool?

Diving into the world of FHSS in the Motorola DTR700 and a couple DLRs. I haven't plugged it into the Moto CPS software yet, cable in the mail... hoping to get em updated though. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

What are you trying to accomplish? They will communicate with each other just regardless of the firmware version as long as all the radios are using the same Profile ID and the Frequency Hopsets.

I have two DTR700s and one is version 1.03 and thd other 1.04 and both of them communicate just fine with DLR1020s with various firmware versions.

I wouldn't worry about the firmware differences and if there are any differences between any of the firmware versions, operationally you'll more than likely won't know the difference.

I haven't found it or any release notes for the newest version. They do work just fine, I just like to have my stuff on the latest firmware.

Without the release notes it's hard to say if it fixes any issues or not. Regardless of whether they work or not

The answer to your question is the same as Tim's above. I'm also looking for release notes and details.

On the release notes for the version on one of them now, there's nearly a full page of updates, feature improvements and fixes.

Things like "Fixed issue with call failed after back and forth private calls to a radio" and other things that I would prefer not to have open and unfixed, even if small chance.

To answer your question, I'd like to at least see what's in the release notes to gauge if it's worth chancing an update. I wasn't able to successfully find the release pages yet on my own, thus ended up replying here. Would you happen to have the notes or guidance?

No, not really. Myself and the car club I belong to use the radios for race operations are not experiencing any operational issues. We normally have 20 radios, four DTR700s and the rest of them are DLR200s in operation all day long. As we operate out in the open, the operating distance between the two furthest radios is usually not more than a mile apart.
