Hi,
I've read the manual three times back and forth and searched the web with all the keywords I could think of, but still was not able to find a straight answer - what exactly does the "duplex operation" feature on the R3 do?
I understand that for a duplexed system, I can store the tower transmit frequency as the "base" frequency and then the mobile transmit frequency / tower input frequency with an offset. All clear so far.
Now, on to a hyphotetical situation, where the tower is far enough from me so it comes in with a medium quality on the Tx freq. The mobile unit, however, is somewhere right in the vicinity and comes in crystal clear from the Rx freq. I would assume that if I have duplex turned on for a memory slot with the appropriate frequencies stored, the scanner would opt for the one that's of a better quality, but apparently it's not the case - I still hear the medium-quality retransmit via the repeater.
So in what situation exactly does the duplex thingie kick in? In a case where the tower/Tx is not heard at all, but the Rx is?
TIA,
Indrek
