Duplicate feeds

Are duplicate feeds allowed ?I have hosted a feed for over 10 years and someone has just started a duplicate feed for what I stream.

They also have ems operation channels.

Said "someone" apparently didn't take heed of the following. Not sure how they got the approval unless they stated they'd be broadcasting entirely different content

Avoid duplicate feeds​

Please check the existing county listings in your state before you decide to become a feed provider. Look at what is already there because we want to avoid complete duplication of existing feeds.


If there is an existing stream in your county for “Home County Sheriff and Fire”, please do not request another matching feed. However you could request a feed for “Home City Police and Fire (also includes Home County Sheriff and Fire). This is at least a different feed.

I personally approve all the feeds. It might have been a mistake on my part, or the feed is broadcasting a little differently than yours.

In any case, sometimes mistakes happen. EMS operations channels aren't against terms of service, only dedicated ambulance to hospital channels.

Says monitoring p25 system that system is not fully online yet. It's the same talk groups that I have other than ems.

I'm kind of glad this topic popped up. A duplicate feed covering both what my feed offers, as well as a neighboring county, has popped up out of nowhere, hosted by some local news agency. Mine has been around since April 2010, rarely ever been down. Any chance you could send me a message regarding it?

If you look at the feed notes between the two feeds there is a big difference between them, while the other feed does carry some of what you have they also carry more agencies you don't. As @blantonl said, "the feed is broadcasting a little differently than yours", which could be one reason it was approved.

Based on my understanding, if somebody else creates a feed that includes your content and adds something else, such as another county or an additional agency, it's not considered a duplicate feed. Or conversely, if your feed covers two counties, somebody else can create a feed that is only for one of those counties.
