I have a dumb 'head scratcher' of a question.

The same frequency is used by the City, and by the County. But the City is Analog entirely. Whereas, The County has the same frequency. Set up digitally. Am I missing something?

The county is patched with VHF probably for paging departments outside of the city. The city doesn’t have a VHF frequency because they don’t need to page

I'm assuming you're talking about the DVRS frequency. Those frequencies can be used in analog or digital. Subscribers can support mixed mode receive which will listen for an analog or digital signal. Some agencies prefer to use analog, others use P25.

Remember that Durham CITY and Durham COUNTY are two separate agencies.

The Sheriff Department has many functions that the city does not perform, (jail, court security, and regular police services in the unincorporated areas outside of Durham City.
Altho Durham City covers most, but not all of Durham County, it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between the two agencies.

Durham City and Durham County share a system controller with Cumberland County

I am guessing that the VHF and UHF frequencies listed are legacy stuff that arehardly used now.

If you're talking about the DVRS units, those are vehicular repeaters. They are capable of analog or P25 depending on the mode in which the operator desires to use at the time. They allow for P25 passthrough etc when digital and almost act like a cross patch when in analog mode. For me to explain it any further would take a book, but that's the very basic piece of it.

Another 'head scratcher' to this thread is that...

While the:
Durham Vet Hosp(digital)
NCSHP(Durham; digital)

Both come through fine.

The Durham portion of the Durham-Fayetteville system is not. I double-checked the CC's on the Durham site, traffic is not showing up. Any ideas'?

Durham VA and NCSHP are both on VIPER, not the Durham system.
