Anybody have any experience with the 2500 and DV? Does it work with the P25 diode mod without a problem?

DV as in D-STAR? If this is what your asking, is used in the amateur radio bands mostly on VHF/UHF repeaters, so a mod should not be needed, I'd think. The P-25 is a problem due to the blocked frequencies between 780 and 866 MHz. Some of the bandwidth which is in the trunked public safety band.

Yes, D-Star. I'm without schematics so I'm not sure if the P25 diode mod has any effect upon the DV audio. My DV audio is intermittent. I performed the P25 diode mod before fully testing the DV and wonder if it has any involvement with the DV audio. Anybody have both DV and P25 cards in a non-blocked 2500?

Well, I got the DV working (hardware reset) although the audio quality is disappointing both on 440m and 1.2g. A "watery" quality typical of low bit rate digital. A weak signal only makes it worse by not decoding the bitstream. It takes a couple hundred milliseconds for the audio to decode properly at the beginning of the xmit. Bottom line is that the D-Star works OK on the 2500 although the technology itself is not entirely ready for primetime. The P25 diode mod is not affecting the DV.

That's good to know. I've not heard D-star to know what the normal sound is, but there has been discussion about using D-star on analog repeaters. Could this be the problem with the audio or is this simplex operation? Is there a way to manually adjust the digital audio quality at all?

I thought you could use DV or P25 card but not both at the same time? Maybe the settings are in the ini file for the startup?
By the way where did you pick up your 2500?

Not sure what the architecture is for the K2DIG repeater here in the NY Metro area, I assume it is full D-Star digital. The xmit is originating from the Empire State so the coverage should be strong. The freqs are 1293.0m and 449.175m output. There is also an experimental DV (read D-Star) rebroadcast of an analog repeater on 439.225m. The R2500 has few settings/adjustments for the DV, no way to "tune". DV and P-25 cannot be simultaneously monitored (only the main receiver supports both). However with the subreceiver I can simultaneously monitor all analog freqs to the freq limit. The R2500 was purchased from Radioworld with a delivery of less than 2 weeks.

Must be something specific to the 2500 decode. I know users on the Empire Bldg systems and when using the ID-800H and other HT's from Icom its no problem with audio quality...

Must be. The UT-118 is also used with IC-2200H, IC-U82, IC-V82, for DCSS & DCS, Short Text Messaging, Enables GPS position beaconing with a NEMA GPS Emergency DCSS & DCS bypass.
