• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

NX-5800 - "Zombie" NXDN reappears under "Product Information"

I developed an NX-5800 codeplug that I set for P25 and DMR (single band, single KCH-20R head). Both modes work fine in the radio. See Pic 1

However, "Product Information" >>> "Read Configuration" indicates that P25 and NXDN are activated. See Pic 2

Do I care? I am concerned that having to fix this at some point may result in all of my programming data going away.....

One clue here is that the radio came with P25, and I added DMR later in time (but well before I made the codeplug).

Pic 3 are the options in the radio.

With this particular situation, changing mode selection, you will have to open two instances of the KPG program and then "play the copy and paste game" for as much of the content that can be, and the remaining that can't you will have to manually retype it all over again...

Copy your code plug and save it?

Frank

Yea - I have many of copies of it.

How does one disable NXDN and enable DMR so the radio remembers this? I assumed that I just "Read Config", make the changes on that Porduct Information screen, then write it back to radio (which is what I essentially did).

Agree - that was the fallback plan. Just wanted to get ahead of this potental issue.

If DMR is in the radio, you just write the new code plug. You made the change by checking P25 and DMR in the code plug you built. Hit write and go.

Never bought the P25 Options no need for them. We were told you can have all three in the Radio but only use 2 Digital at 1 time so the City bought over 120 mixed 5200 5300 5700 5800 Radios.

Yes, that's correct. It comes with NXDN, and you can put licenses for both P25 and DMR in the same radio, but you can only have two turned on in a personality at a time. You have to create two different personalities and reprogram to change.
So again, if you don't need P25, don't get the license. Then just turn on what the other two in the personality.
