Hi, I can’t remember seeing a backup battery on the top or bottom of the main PCB, I have not checked the front panel PCB.

The Real Time Clock (RTC) may have a capacitor for short term storage. If I leave my DV1 unpowered for some time, I know the RTC does reset.

The information from the manual is shown attached. With the DV1 turned off but with power applied, the standby current is around 15mA and the clock will be retained.

Hi thanks for your reply and yes I did not use the radio for a month

So must be the capacitor as you have said no back up battery .

Thank you.

I can confirm that too. If I unplug my DV1 for more than 24 hours, the date and time are reset.
For shorter intervals (e.g. only 12 hours), the date and time are retained.

AOR-DV1 Manual Page 55:
"Disconnecting power will erase clock and timer settings"

It is not intended to keep time when ppower is off - unfortunately

Interesting. As is common for folks with Icom 7300's who also unplug them for an amount of time.
They use a Seiko backup battery soldered to the main board. As do the IC-R8600 and possible others.
The specs. for the battery state they can be discharged to (from memory) 10% repeatedly with no short term degradation.
But complete discharge/charge cycles will kill them quite fast. As is shown in the forums and user groups.
Everyone has a phone. With a reminder app.
If its your practice to divorce standby power for a week or so, set the reminder to alert you to plug it back in for at least 24 hours.
