Hey all,

I have a question regarding the E-COMM system for the Lower Mainland of BC. The E-COMM shows all the frequencies for each individual city, and then it groups up all the talk groups for each city. But the thing is, there are talkgroups for the cities that don't have frequencies listed. For example, it shows the coquitlam fire talkgroups but there isn't any frequencies for coquitlam. Same goes for Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody, North shore, etc. And for Burnaby, there's frequencies for burnaby but no talkgroups for it? What's with that? If someone can help me out on setting this up, thanks. Try to program these on my RadioShack PRO-2055

Each site has a number of simulcast sites within it that cover more cities than their name actually eludes to.

For example, Delta emergency services are covered by Richmond and Surrey sites;

Code:
System 0009 - Surrey

CWID: ECOMMSRRY; ID at 0:52 past the hour

Sites are located at the following:

ADDRESS	LATITUDE	LONGITUDE
16705 Fraser Highway	49 09 04	122 45 21
11920 80th Avenue, Delta

Code:
System 0007 - Richmond

CWID: ECOMMRICH; ID at 0:44 past the hour

Sites are located at the following:

ADDRESS	LATITUDE	LONGITUDE
No. 7 Road/Westminster Hwy., Richmond	49 10 12	123 02 37
8280 Westminster Hwy., Richmond	49 10 14	123 07 51
60th Ave/72nd Street Telus Tower, Delta?	49 06 45	123 01 25

This info can be found in the 'Site Location Information' section of the db page.

Also, once you start listening to the system you will figure it out pretty quick...

Burnaby Fire is not on E-Comm. I believe only Burnaby RCMP are.

Also, correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the RadioShack PRO-2055 supports ESK (EDACS System Key). This basically means that you won't be able to scan the E-Comm system with this scanner...

Really?.... I already set up E-COMM and was wondering why I couldn't pick up anything. I'm thinking it's just because of my reception and crappy antenna but I'll have to look that up. It's supposed to support all EDACS systems.

It (the PRO 2055 I have) was used a couple years back by CTV news so I'm thinking it SHOULD work with E-COMM. It was actually already programmed (but it wasn't very organized) so I reset it to program everything myself.

Yeah I have never owned that scanner so I cannot confirm. But just before the Olympics (Nov 2009?) E-Comm turned on ESK and shut out a lot of listeners. Most of the local media outfits had to ditch their scanners and buy new units when this change occurred.

More info on ESK here; ESK - The RadioReference Wiki

You don't need much of an antenna to receive the E-Comm site nearest to you.
