@Marcy57 is this not off your regular Federal beat?🤣 USGS reporting this was twice as deep as initial quake earlier.

@Marcy57 I'm in Bergen County NJ and it seems as if the final tally of the "Earthquake" is that the impact of the quake was very widespread, due in part to the density of the Earth in this part of the country. I overlook MetLife Stadium, literally, and all we felt around here was a "shake/rumble" lasted for only a couple seconds, and was game over.. there has been only sparse comment on TV about the AfterShock that was reported.

I discovered today much like radio direction finding, epicenters are located via triangulation. @Marcy57 cheers.

My house shook like a frigin bomb went off for a good 20 seconds. Set my alarm off and everything. Still waiting for the Police to respond lol. The alarm monitoring station didn't even bother to call me.

Felt the aftershock too, but that lasted about 5 seconds here

Whats the thought process of people calling 911 when there's an earthquake. I understand if there's a rescue or structural damage but just calling and holding up the lines for actual emergencies is a head scratcher
There might be people who don't realize what is happening if their house is shaking as if a bomb went off.

In Burlington County, we felt the first quake at 10:23a -- house rattled (first thought it was a low-flying medical or NJSP helicopter) -- for a short while, but we didn't feel the second quake at 5:59p.

The Tewksbury epicenters were not all that far apart, both in open country. The first was at a farm, as shown on Google Earth.

Interesting to be sure, but WAY overkill on local TV media. But what else would one expect? 😀

You'd be surprised how people abuse 911. Have a close friend who a supervisor in a center. He gets calls from neighbors asking 911 why the police are across street or why trash collection didn't show up. Also parents calling 911 to get the cops to force their kid to go to school. My personal favorite, why is my cable TV not working.

When people lose control and/or freak out, don't know what to do and the only thing they can think of, they call 911 hoping it will help or at least calm them down make them believe they're doing something to help

Felt it in Delaware County pretty good, figured it was either a quake or the tower behind the building fell. Went out to check just in case 😁

I missed the first one where I work(my coworkers felt it) in Allendale right off Route 17 by Ramsey border. I felt the aftershock at about 6pm(whenever it was exactly) while I was sitting down doing paperwork. Felt like a really strong wind for a few seconds(shaking the roof). My family in northern passaic county all felt it, and my family member who works at St Joes Wayne said the whole hospital shook(she was on the third floor in an office).

Family down in Delaware, and up in Albany area all felt it. Pretty wide area it seems!

I live in an area where earthquakes are not a regular occurrence. I was working dispatch during the last shake up here. I think we figured that we took roughly 450 911 calls between the five of us working. A overwhelming majority were people calling to ask “What was that shaking?”

Absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but…

I was in Vegas several years ago for a company training event. Around 10 PM one night an Amber alert went off. I was listening to security and it was ridiculous how many calls they had about an alarm going off in people’s rooms. Have they never heard an Amber alert before??
