Just wondering if anyone is using the HomePatrol-2 to listen to talkgroups on the EBRCS. My main concern is being able to listen to the ALCO-SW channel, and if purchasing a HomePatrol-2 would be worth the investment?

Thanks for any help!.

I listen to the ALCO SW system but I purhcased a RS PRO-668 because the price was right and I wanted to be able to listen to P25 Phase2 should they switch over. I do run in to some simulcast issues but more so if I'm on the road (Like 880) I don't have any experience with late model Unidens so I don't know if they deal with it any better. Furthermore, I have tried tweaking the settings for better reception. When I'm sitting still, I can usually find a good spot to set the scanner for clean decodes.

Excellent, thanks for the response! I drive 880 frequently so I'm wondering what would be a good one for the car traveling up and down that horrible freeway lol.

Guess I'll provide my own answer to my question, I decided to make the leap and bought the HP2. I can say without a doubt it seems to be an awesome scanner for picking up radio traffic in the East Bay. I can monitor pretty much every agency you can think of. Definitely recommended, especially if you are on the fence about getting one. There have been a few garbled transmissions, but nothing bad at all.

Good to know thanks. I just started out looking for a new hand held and decided to get the best I could afford. Looking at the 436HP unit.
