This has nothing to do with SDRs...

Anyway there are MANY different decoding apps for Moto and EDACS type systems, and many scanner control programs have logging functions. It depends largely on what scanner you are using and what you are trying to accomplish

best regards....Mike

When I had the (PSR-500 (I no longer have) I was checking the CC for FPL Edacs narrow. The 396xt doesn't give the CC number like the psr500 does. I have the st aug and durbin set up correct but orangedale in St Johns Co not able to pick up not sure if that is running or too far away.

Where are you?
What system(s) are you monitoring?

For Motorola, you don't need LCNs, just the frequencies.

Your 396XT will only provide control channel for systems already programmed into a radio. To figure out a new system, create a new site/system in the radio with the known control channels. For EDACS and LTR you can quickly find the LCN of the active control channel and home channel.

When I was trying to listen to FPL I was able to pick up one voice til I had the psr500 than I got the FPL LCN correct I pick both voices up. There is a few UHF systems here I was using the LTR logger . I was trying to find something like LTR logger for Edacs 800 system etc....I live in St Aug FL

Trying to find out if they are alternate control channels and primary control channels also.

St. Johns County?

The database lists a site 3 in your area.

Florida Power & Light Trunking System, Various, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

There may be other FPL sites in monitoring range.

If you have not done already, I'd start with programming a site/system for FPL into your 396XT.

If you want to try Unitrunker, you can configure the program to accept control data from the radio. The program will display call activity, LCN numbers, and site number on screen. You must provide frequencies.

The program can't tell one EDACS system from another so each time you start monitoring an EDACS site, it creates a new temporary system. Manually type in the control channel frequency (highlighted in red). If the system was previously logged, the program will switch to that system. To keep your radio from wandering off to monitoring other systems or conventional frequencies, you must program it to follow a talkgroup on the system (preferrably one that isn't actually used) to keep the radio on the control channel.

I know - this is a lot of hassle. The PSR500 is much easier because you can place it in tune mode and key in a control channel frequency. Sorry, the Unidens just don't work that way.
