Edacs Wide

I'm a little confused about "Mode" and how it applies to Edacs Wide systems.

For example, I've programmed Worcester County's 800 trunk freqs with Mode set for "NFM". However, when I picked up their system last night for the first time (optimal weather conditions - I'm in Cambridge), the display on my BC796D read "FM" on the "Receiving Mode Indicator".

Is this a idiosyncrasy of the Edacs Wide systems, in that it doesn't matter what mode I program the frequencies in, they will always revert back to "FM"?

not sure about your case, but i know that with the 246 if you dont select a mode, it automatically sets the mode to NFM. also keep in mind that different companies (scanner and radio... --> uniden/gre and MOT/ED) see FM and NFM differently... some refer to FM as NFM and NFM as SNFM... this may be why it is "switching" to FM on your 796
