EMS is simulcasted on the old PD freq, 453.525 . I think the PL is 114.8, but it might be their old DPL 023. Edison FD is simulcasted on their old freq, 460.525, PL is 136.5.
Seems like the 478.7125 freq. became a part of the trunked system tonight (even though it's been registered under two callsigns for a few years). Also noticed that all of the freq's are being used similiar to an EDACS system logic even though it's a Motorola system. Any thoughts?
Edison was testing and preparing to go MDT -laptops so only car to car is going to be encripted anyway jobs will be sent via the MDT in digital encription mode.
Could someone please tell me why MDT's need to be encrypted? Bill Cheek was the only one to crack the regular MDT system and that was so long ago the crack won't work on new systems. To me encrypted MDT's are a waste of resources.
MDT's (or 'in car service terminals' as they are referred to) display both calls (and callers names) and DMV information from Trenton. As a stipulation data recieved across the internet to the terminals has to be encripted due to DMV regulations. the data originates as encripted at DMV and is decripted in the car and vice versa as requests are sent to Hq and DMV. this is common in ALL towns using the in car syatem not just Edison. MDT's were eliminated years ago only a handfull still exhist in smaller towns as they were not as multi-functional as the laptops and worked off repeaters which were easily intercepted . A kid with a pk-232 set up properly could decode these on a computer using simple VHF gear.
Im sure you wouldnt want someone reading your SS number off a DMV reply if they ran your plate for some reason , and no they dont need a reason to run it as long as the random runs dont exceed 50% of the runs made in a shift (to eliminate possible profiling).
investigation Reports are also generated and sent to HQ across these, in which there is some classified information not for public release which is another obvious reason.
