This thread has me thinking about which emergency analog frequencies to monitor in Massachusetts during this type of scenario:

Besides local & surrounding Police/Fire/EMS/Repeaters & HAM Simplex/Air/Media/Boston & Transit Police & Fire, EMS, I have 44 frequencies programed in a bank (below) with what think might be of benefit during emergencies based on listings in RR.

I am using a Uniden Bearcat BC125AT.

My question: Do you have any others you might recommend? This is what I have so far. Thanks in advance.

USCG Aux - remove the PL Tone and you will hear more than that one repeater

Also google NIFOG plenty to add there

You can eliminate from your list - USCG has been P25 for many years

I wouldn’t forget the Massachusetts regional fire mutual aid frequencies most are analog.

Also DCR forest fire frequencies and maybe the 151.145 repeater but it seems that’s mostly used by Mount Wachusett rangers.

Mema seems to be mostly on units signing on the air off the air. I do remember on Y2K they had a net going. It’s mostly EOCs checking in and mobile MEMA units. That agency has gotten better radio systems since 9/11

You might as well put the analog UHF med channels in also. But you won’t hear much usually unless it’s the 468 MHz side of the repeater.

What else. Oh scanning the “business and GMRS/FRS frequencies listed here” could be interesting most are analog and I would dedicate a second scanner just for them.

I haven’t lived in MA for years so I’m not sure it’s still in use, but the 142.350 low band link used to be a good bet.

MA Army NG went P25 ~ 5 yrs ago when they also decomissioned the VHF Low Repeaters
142.5625R $854 is the Mt Wachusett Repeater

Why are you restricting your listening to Analog, so much is already P25 and more converting almost monthly/quarterly

As has been discussed in other prior threads here and at Scan New England (SNE), what you monitor daily should be your SHTF channels.
All the Normal Daily, Mutual Aid and Interop channels. Then you can add the regularly used for Events - NIFOG stuff into the list - used for the major events - across the state. Big-E (No tourists reading this Not ENC), Sail Boston, Boston Marathon, Pops goes the 4th, Head of the Charles, Ruck Run, Large Fires (Woods/Brush) etc etc etc

Thanks for the P25 suggestion. I will probably migrate to (or add) a digital scanner at some point. So far, quite a lot of agencies are still analog in Central Mass. I have well over 350 frequencies programmed so there is still a lot to listen to in my area to keep me informed.
