Encrypted or something else?

We programmed the Cochise County P25 System into a Uniden BCD325P2. The radio is trunking, but when the occasional talk group appears, we are just getting digital noise. Doesn't sound like encryption but wondering if anyone else is able to monitor this system. Here's a link to the system: Chochise P25.

I did a last July with the same scanner. We were in Tombstone at the time for two nights. I don't remember hearing the type of noise you are hearing. I did have conventional frequencies programmed. I will check it out when I am down there again. Sorry I was not to much help.

That's ok. Your radio had conventional freqs, ours was programmed for an entire trunk system. Appreciate you chiming in though.

simulcast could be the problem.
my 325 gets every other word on my counties 700 simulcast system.

Judging by that cluster of cells I'd say definitely simulcast distortion. You'd be much better off monitoring with a Uniden SDS100 or an SDR with SDRTrunk if this is a system you intend on monitoring regularly
