EPS TAC Channels

I'm hearing alot of new channels on EPS talk group..ie TAC East south west north. And when I scan using ID search method nothing comes up...are there priviate channels were not aware of. would close call pick them up if your near?

These channels (Tac) are PV or digital channels. Your scanner will not decode PV talkgroups nor scan them.

Oh, and to follow up what brecht said above, even if you are standing next to a guy on one of the digital channels, all you would get is a conventional hit on one of the LCNs, digital static and a single beep at the end.

There are 40ish (if I can remember right??) digital talk groups on the Edmonton system of which none are monitorable by scanner... The only police analog talkgroups available to listen to are the five general dispatch channels, a the talkgroup that once was used by the park patrol people, but now is just used for nothing much at all.

So all in all, a very small percentage.
