Okay hive mind.

Here in Alberta we have a linked repeater system, that several clubs link their independant repeaters into.

Quite often, during nets that link those systems, we will hear a synthesized voice give the error code 'two hundred two' after DTMF codes are sent over the air.

Does anyone know of a specific controller brand and model that will throw out this error code?

HTTP Error codes?
HTTP errors like (HTTP 200, 201, 202, 203, 400,401,403,404,500,502 etc.)

HTTP 200 - Ok

HTTP 201 - Created

HTTP 202 - Accepted

HTTP 203 - Non-Authoritative Information

HTTP 300 - Multiple choice

HTTP 301 - Moved to permanently

HTTP 302 - Found

HTTP 400 (Bad Request)

I agree with Bud, sounds like a bad DTMF string being crunched or it not accepting due to poor signal or interference a DTMF string to execute a command. I've hear that come out of our Arcom controller when I messed up trying to program the time twice a year for time changes. I honestly don't have the manual in front of me and I'm not sure it showed all the errors anyway.

So the problem isn't that the codes are wrong. The codes are doing what they are supposed to do. The problem is that there is a device that is not ignoring codes it isn't programmed to respond to.

There was a repeater around here that kept repeating error two hundred something over and over for about a day before they shut it off or fixed it. Then it happened again about a week later.

This happens often on a linked system. Some controllers rather than actually mute the tones generate their own monotones then the other system Interprets that as a mistake. We fought this some in the 90s. The system in MO had a different controller and my machine would hear the tones and think it was a mistake and visa versa.

We honestly never did find a way to 100% eliminate it prior to it all coming down in early 2000.

If there's an answer I'm not aware if it. If you use PL on COR it helps keep it down some but some will still show up if you key up after the command is entered a second or two.

The issue isn't tone regeneration. the problem is a single controller throwing an error code because the tones being sent are not "correct" for that specific controller. The controller is not ignoring codes not intended for it. I am trying to figure out what controller brand and model will respond with the error in my OP.

Good luck, I've had 3 that thru a "error 202 code". RLC 2 and 3, and the club has an Arcom that will do it even today if I crunch something wrong.
THIS is EXACTLY what I was looking for. RLC 2, 3 and Arcom. That GREATLY narrows down the potential sites this error code is coming from.

Our system is a 8 port Pi based controller using SVX for our main site, and our remote sites are SCom controllers. The 'big' system we all link into uses SCom controllers.

Obviously there could be others but those are the 3 that I have heard that particular error come out of. Good luck tracking it down.

I've been using an Arcom controller for 10+ years. Never heard it generate "error two hundred two". But, you can probably email Ken Arck at Arcom to get a definitive answer.

I've never used an RLC controller.

I'll have to see which one the club has for sure, I get that error if I try and set the time wrong and miscrunch a number or something. I'll double check it. I know it makes me mad when I hear it.

Do you do a lot of over the air programming on yours?
Just curious.

No. I haven't touched the programming of mine in about 2 years. And, I did that by uploading a file at the site. I just don't like making controller changes over the air and the site is readily accessible during the day.

Ok, ours doesn't have that option always and usually I'm usually only doing the time change here and that's when occasionally my fat fingers make a mistake and I hear that. The only other time is once in a great while it locks itself up (on going problem that seems to have no rhyme or reason to it) maybe 3-4 times a year. Other than that we physically go to the site and use the file upload at the site. It's not worth the trip to make the time changes, and honestly it's been probably 4-5 months since I had to shut it down for a bit, again, not worth 90 minutes of driving for that little amount of stuff.

Thanks for the info.

There's a permanent fix for that problem...don't configure the controller to announce the time.

Unless, of course, you have some function that needs to be performed at a certain time.
