I just moved back to the area after 4 years on the west coast... I'm living in Westford. An RF dead zone as far as Chittenden county is concerned... I can hear Newport VT dispatch better than Essex. HF work is FANTASTIC though... noise floor is A LOT lower than it was in the urban area I just came from.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on Essex/Williston/Westford fire dispatch works. I heard Westford and Essex Town dispatched to a barn fire early last Saturday morning. I heard two sets of tones... one set seemed like it was sent for Westford only, possibly a link to a transmitter in town? The fire station has a huge VHF vertical on the roof. But I never heard anyone respond to dispatch after being toned. Do they have response/tac/fireground frequencies that are unique to the towns being dispatched that the respond on? Or do the respond on the dispatch frequency and I just didn't hear them? I see there are quite a few fireground/tac frequencies associated with Essex Fire dispatch. I'm hoping someone can make head and tails of how everything works. Bonus points if you can provide the paging tones for Westford so I can program a Minitor 4 I have.

Thanks so much in advance!

The frequency lists on my website may be able to answer your questions.

Just click on the Vermont Frequencies tab, then click on Chittenden County. The file is a Word document. Hopefully the information you need is there.
