Bill please do not post the same question in multiple forums - it is considered very bad form. Thanks for your future compliance.

To answer your question, yes it's quite possible in the late fall, winter and part of the spring, when the noise and absorption levels are down. It's probably possible in the summer, too, but not on a regular basis, with T-Storms around. Your radio has to be able to handle the different splits - Europe (and if memory serves, Africa is, too) uses a 9 khz seperation between stations, while we use 10 khz. Very good selectivity, resistance to overload are absolute musts. A great help is a good directional antenna (yes, it can be done with a loop).

I've mentioned these clubs before, but they bear repeating - if you are serious about getting into MW DXing, the International Radio Club of America (IRCA) and National Radio Club(NRC) are 2 very well known MW only clubs based here in the States that specialize in this field. Our wiki has the links, as well as several articles on building loops.

The problem with this is that you pretty much have to be ON THE COAST! I know in Wisc you are far from the coast but where I am in Central VA 125-150 miles from the coast it is rare indeed.

There's a web site for posting bcb dx loggings and there is a guy in Texas that regularly post Europeans, I suspect he has some big antennas.

I was gonna recommend Mark's site but I see you've already found it.

Good luck!
