To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi guys, hope you are all well , bit of help (again !!!) please.....
Firstly excuse my ignorance and apologies if I offend , but here in the UK we are treated with a radio called a SENHAIX 8800 which is what I see as a similar type radio to the Baofeng uv 5r dual band.
Covers the VHF/UHF band for tx/rx and has a bunch of features like a flashlight, alarm , 5W output and can be programmed via bluetooth from an Android app ?
I believe it comes in standard black or a funky bright orange in a rubberised type finish , so looks wise I love it.

Now my main question if you guys could help is it has Airband receive , however I have heard conflicting reports that it also covers UHF Airband (rx only) and I'm just trying to find out if thats correct.
Online specs just say it covers vhf and uhf frequencies but doesn't clarify the airband RX details...can anyone help ?
Cost is currently £79.00 so a bit more than a Baofeng dual bander, but it looks good and if it DOES cover UHF Military Airband then that's all good - caveat being that the airband receive for vhf and uhf is in FM mode which I reckon it is.
Thanks in advance as always....

They make radios marketed in the US by Radioddity. In China they make a variety of two-way radios including some that use 5G.

In the US the radio you mention is marketed as the GS-5B by Radioddity.

I have one. Very interesting features like USB power and Bluetooth programing. Water resistant. Excellent audio.

Bought it just to what it was like for $85 on Amazon. Not my main radio but good.

No air band coverage in US.

A Bearcat BC125 scanner might make you happier if you mostly want aircraft --civil or military.

Hi Guys,
Thankyou so much for all of your responses, really helpful.
Reason I was asking was I just thought I could replace my Baofeng uv 5r with something similar but heard the 8800 also had airband receive for vhf and uhf - that would have been a good addition for my listening.
I have plenty of scanners that cover both vhf and uhf airband.
MASS-MAN - thanks for reply ,what I as trying to say was if the 8800 did cover vhf and uhf airband I hoped it wasn't in fm mode but proper am mode (some radios that say they cover airband compromise by only having fm mode) thanks anyway, I appreciate all the feedback.

Speak soon,
Kevin ,England
