Hello!

I’ve been around radios and especially scanning since I was 12, but I still can’t put the puzzle together.

Ideally I’m wanting is a program that will record each transmission, TGID, and most importantly to me the RID.

I’m very aware RIDs don’t stay “correct” forever due to tons of factors, but I find it kinda fun. In a way, the same fun as discovering a new TG. I just think it’s neat when my SDS displays ENGINE 101 instead of 2107677, for example.

My question— Does such a program exist? Forgive my ignorance 🙏

Cheers,

In that case, perfect as I have ProScan.

However, when I select ProScans audio record to on, it looks as if it’s working. When I go to play it back, it “plays” but no audio. I checked everything pertaining to the computer and speakers.

Id rather do this with ProScan, as the RIDs on the SDS seem to have a strange delay of 1 recorded transmission when played back.

I know this is now probably a little off topic for this particular forum, but I appreciate any tip to point me in the right direction.

Cheers,
Colin

Which specific scanner do you have and how is it connected to PC?

Do you have the scanner display showing up in ProScan?

You need a USB and audio plug, or LAN connection (if you have an SDS200).

Might want to try SDR - UniTrunker, SDR Trunk, DSD+, OP25 can do what you want. Above programs decode. Programs like Trunking Recorder, and trunk- recorder record and playback. You will have to listen to each transmission to label the RID.

Can you go to the Audio Control - Recorder tab and see if you have audio there. If not then trace the problem back to the source.
You may want to check the microphone privacy settings even if using the Line input.

You need to set the COM Port to URL. Also, you need to open up the audio control tab and set the input sound device to URL as well. If you're using USB, you will need to connect a line from the ext speaker port on the scanner to the input on your PC in order for it to record audio.Screenshot 2025-02-08 110021.png

Believe in ProScan that there are 2 spots that need to be checked to record. Not at mine at the moment but I selectively record certain tg’s and channels.

I use DSD+ Fastlane and an AirSpy R2 to do exactly that. After a little learning curve, it is well worth it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I already have and enjoy ProScan and despite reading the owner's manual couldn't figure it out.

@hazrat8990 Wow thank you for taking the time to do that, the screenshots are very helpful!

@ProScan I appreciate the fast reply, I will get back with you with screenshots if I need further help. 😁

What kind of scanner? If the BCD536HP or SDS200, are you using the LAN for the audio?

The SDS-100, I have it connected via the OEM USB cable to the computer. And by following another poster's screenshots above, I was able to get it pretty much perfect. I'm more of a visual learner when possible :)

I seem to have it figured out, works great.

As you may know by now, ProScan has a UID Logging / Recorder feature specifically designed to record UIDs/RIDs
Yes that along with logging TGIDs with the intention of identifying ones that are new or otherwise not yet in the RRDB.

Im very happy with my purchase. At bedtime, I’d hook up my SDS to my external speakers and pull up ProScan on my TV using the sizable window feature. So I can (low volume) listen, see my scanner’s screen only slightly covering what I’m watching on TV. I recommend it
