EXPERTS PREDICT A LONG, DEEP SOLAR MINIMUM

the last few days i have noticed even Public safety and GPS signals degraded

I was just wondering about that myself.


Some days, my SDS100 performs so well, I feel like marrying it. Other times, I'm like WTH?!

Precisely yesterday, I was listening to my favorite systems here in Florida; Orange County and Seminole, whereas, a couple of days ago, they were coming in perfectly, yesterday, no matter what filters I tried, there was above normal simulcast distortion.

Precisely yesterday, I was listening to my favorite systems here in Florida; Orange County and Seminole, whereas, a couple of days ago, they were coming in perfectly, yesterday, no matter what filters I tried, there was above normal simulcast distortion.

My first guess doesn't count. I'd look at temperature inversion, weather fronts and differences in air masses (moist versus dry, warm versus cold, etc.) to account for 700/800 Mhz propagation. Define warm and cold as deviations from the seasonal norms for the time of the year. Short of a massive solar flare affecting the sunlit portion of the earth, the propagation stuff I referred to above is HF, i.e., below 6m (50-54 Mhz).

... I have this "doubt" when I see that, "Experts predict" sort of thing. From what I've seen over the years, those "experts" are as wrong in their predictions as often as they are right. If we're gonna cite experts, let's get some names envolved! That way you can always go back and point a finger, you know? I've also noticed that very few experts want to be directly qouted... wonder why...

I believe the experts, because they said the same thing about 5 years ago and they were right. In fact, they also predicted the last up-cycle would be weak, and they were correct then, also.

HF still throws up some surprises. For me, the harder i have to hunt-the more i enjoy the rewards.
