• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

All Harris radios are like this. We've got around it by attaching an obnoxious alert tone to the end of our paging tones.
What obnoxious alert tone? I ask because on the xg100p Unity there’s not option to change it

The radio doesn't do it. We send ours from the console.

Unlike the other radios you can't independently adjust the minimum alert tone volume from the Rx audio volume, which results in the XG-100P tones being pretty anemic, at normal volume levels.

Not to mention the fact that most of the odd choice of alert tones for the XG-100P make it sound like a Fisher-Price toy anyway.

Speaking of alert tones, has anyone else set up their XG-100P to alert to a weather tone and set T99 for auto-reset and noticed that the radio never resets to muting the Rx audio after 30 seconds?

It looks like any other feature string and it's serialized to that specific unit.

If you tried to copy it into another radio you would more than likely have a brick on your hands.

What's the difference between feature 50 OMAP Wideband Disable, and feature 58 Unity Wideband Disable? My feature list shows 50 but not 58.

Option 50 only applies to OMAP radios. Which would be from the 7200 series onward. Option 58 is specific to the Unity radios, which are not "classified" as OMAP processor based radios.

It means your Unity has WB capability.

I would say that is highly unlikely, but if you would want to try the same concept, swap feature strings between your XG-100P's and let me know how it goes....

There are several features that don't have a corresponding integer (TDMA CC, HVTDMA, VIDA ID, In-band alias, etc...). 62 is single key AES (to add to your list)
Probably none of those compatible with Unity though.

None of the new features will be added to the Unity series. Feature support ended years ago. Most of those, if not all of those, new features will only be supported by the XL series.

How about Motorola Multi-Group?

Motorola's announcement group capability.

Multigroup - groups several talkgroups together for announcement capability
Agencygroup - groups several announcement groups together for announcement capability

Comparable to the Harris Fleetwide and Agencywide talkgroups on an EDACS system (and I assume a Harris P25 system). I feel Motorola's version is more flexible, as you can add any talkgroup to any Multigroup in the system, where with EDACS you're limited to talkgroups within the fleet or agency the talkgroup is in.

Ahh like how Orange County NY on the cORNET system has the LE Priority talkgroup for just that… on all law enforcement portables, mobiles, and bases when a county 911 operator determines a call is priority they’ll automatically announce the poll over that talkgroup along with an alarm and any local, state police or sheriffs deputies can respond.

Here I thought it was for patches on a Motorola system. I do not have it and patches seem to operate kinda goofy. Maybe it's just a Harris on Moto thing.

It has nothing to do with patches; those are a console thing (although they can be done with subscriber units and hardware like the ACU-M or ACU-1000). Announcement Calls using Multigroup can be made from any radio that's properly programmed. Agencygroup is also a console thing (at least, I've never seen it in a subscriber unit).
