I was at work messing around with an RCA Portable Digital TV and had the idea to try to use the supplied antenna on a scanner. I used it on a Radioshack Pro-106 scanning Philly P25 system and it worked fine. It is a small magnetic base antenna that would fit on the roof of a car or another magnetic surface and then use the metal surface as a bigger antenna.

I went ahead and ordered the same type off of amazon (link is below) it does state it works up to 869mhz, it would obviously fit most Uniden, GRE, or Radioshack scanners with the proper F type coax to BNC or SMA adapter. My question though is has anyone hooked up 1 antenna to run multiple scanners, and if so what were the results. Ideally I would want to use 1 antenna magnetically mounted to the car and then split to multiple scanners with either a bnc splitter or coax splitter then to bnc.

Splitters work fine if your signals are reasonably strong. But not so well in high density urban areas with strong paging transmitters and other nearby transmitters. Lots of discussion and info in the Splitter and Coupler Forum here on RR: http://m.radioreference.com/forums/GetForum.php?f=204
