A good friend sent me this! I thought I'd share it with the group:

These are Great In-flight Photos of the F/A-22 as the first Aircraft
Delivery was being made to Langley AFB in Va.. Langley is to be
first Operational AFB for the F/A-22. It is a very Beautiful AFB,
located in a picturesque location, as you can see in these photos,
near Norfolk and Hampton, Va.

The Aircraft flying along with the F/A-22 in the last of these
photos is the F-15, which will be replaced by the F/A-22 which is
several times better than the F-15.

In Actual In-flight (simulated) Combat Operations against the F-15,
two F/A-22's were able to operate without detection while it went
Head to Head against (8) F-15's. The F/A-22's scored Missile Hits
(Kills) against all the F-15 Aircraft and the F/A-22's were never
Detected by either the F-15's or Ground Based Radar.

F-22 went well in trials against the F-15, but didn't fair anywhere near as well against the Eurofighter Typhoon. Once it got down to a turning fight the F-22 was in trouble.

F-22 vs. Eurofighter. Makes sense about the EF winning the endgame turnfight - the F-22 has no canards, although it does has thrust vectoring. But the F-22's strength is its stealth, giving it the edge in the BVR engagement.

When/where did this comparison against the Typhoon take place?

any hits of F-22 comms?

Has anyone had luck with getting F-22 comms? Iv'e been wanting to get out to Tyndall and check it out. I had to work the weekend of the Airshow this year, maybe next time.
Any Ideas on when we'll start seeing them more frequently at Airshows?
Thanks,
Rice

I take a lot of airline photos, and not to spoil the fun but those looks fake to me.

You know, I thought the same thing when I first saw them, but I can assure you, they are not fake. They were supplied by someone who is in the Air Force. He has sent many pictures before. Now they may have been digitally enhanced, that I don't know, but they are real.

Here is another example of what he's sent:

Speaking of F/A-22 freqs, here's what I have been able to monitor from Georgia...

For those that may not know, the final assembly of the Raptor takes place in Marietta GA at Air Force Plant #6 located next to Dobbins ARB. The test flights take place over northwest Georgia, northeast Alabama, and southern Tennessee. Freqs for these test flights are 142.200 and 255.725.

If the delivery flight pictured above was on 2 Aug, then the callsigns were FIRST 11-12 and their air-air was 233.525.

For the 43rd Fighter Squadron at Tyndall AFB, callsigns heard have been CUJO, EAGLE, SPANKY, and VAPOR. Freqs have been:

256.600 air-air
263.200 air-air
270.400 air-air
292.700 Hornet Ops

Finally, the Raptor comms are distinct. They are very clear and crisp and there is a click and the end of the comms. Once you hear a Raptor it is very easy to pick them out from all the other fighter comms.

I'm not sure if I've heard any of the final production lot, but the test ones have always been very easy to pick out... Kind of sounds like somebody in their car with the air-conditioning on full blast. Supposedly they have the ARC-210 in them.

I'm not trying to discount the real or not real debate, but if the pictures are in fact real they are defentely touched up. The con-trails comming off the vertical stablizer are not real and added in.

the contrails off the vertical stabilizers are fake. look at the ones rolling off of the wings..... those are real.

the digital blurring, comes from the resizing of the images, and various pixels in a pattern become distorted and blended, thus creating the "Digital Rendering" look.
