• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

F1721D Scanning Issue

I'm sure that this has been asked several times already, but I couldn't find a post about it. My dept is upgrading to the P25 system now. I have a F1721D that I am going to be using in my POV. I'm in the process of programming it now. My question is, when I take to mic off the hanger it still continues to scan and I miss out on the transmission. I've tried to change the options on the scan feature but I can't seem to find the right combination. Is there a way to set it up so that if i take the mic off the hanger it'll stop scanning on the transmitting channel or a way to program one of the buttons so that it can be pressed and hold the transmitting channel? I ran into this issue with my 5021 also, but can't remember what I did to stop it when the mic was off the hanger.

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the reply, I've tied to enable and disable the hanger action and neither one stops the scanning process. I think I read somewhere that there might be a time limit or something like that. Is that correct or am I mistaken? If I increase the time limit, would that help?

Make sure hook on scan is set to on. Make sure when you start the scan you're only doing a quick press. A long press of the scan button will enable the scan list program mode and look like it's scanning. Make sure your Timer A and Timer B settings are set to zero.

The only other thing that could be going on is someone possibly bridged the mic internally or inside the front cap to allow scanning off hook, or un-grounded. Those older radios didn't allow off hook scan via programming so you'd need to mod it. If modded mic try unplugging the RG45 mic connector while it's scanning and see if it cancels.

Thank you sir. I'll change the settings on the hook scan and check the timer. I appreciate the reply and will let you know what happens.
