If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I understand that I must program one of the buttons to CALL in order to set the tones. I also see that in the channel list under 2 tone, you can program one of the 2 tone signals from the 2 tone list.

If there are multiple 2 tone signals I want to send out on a single frequency, is there a way to change the 2 tone code before pushing the call button? OR Do I have to program the same frequency on multiple channels of a zone, each with a different 2 tone signal?

In the Channel Configuration, the TX (under 2-Tone) is the default for that channel.

If you want to select an additional 2-Tone "code" on the fly from the pre-defined list that you create under the 2-Tone/Tone CH menu - you need to program one of your P Keys (P0,P1,etc) with TX Code Select, or TX Code UP or TX Code Down.

That will allow you to press the P0, P1, etc (whatever you used) and select new tone for that radio "session". Once you change channels or power off the radio it will default back to the tone that is set under the TX field in the channel configuration.

Thanks for the quick reply,

So, then I must use two (2) buttons, one button for TX Code Select and one button for CALL?

Is it also possible to change codes in the way you mentioned without having anything programmed as the default tone under TX in the Channel Configuration? This way I would have to select the tone I want every time using TX Code Select.

gmesoutlet, thanks, I figured out my last questions.

Now, when I press the CALL button, I only hear one (1) tone. any thoughts?
