SDS100/SDS200: Faded display screen

I have had my SDS 200 for many years, and I love it. But, over the years the display has faded. I am driving across county this fall and would love to have my brightness back.

My question is, does the Uniden fixed rate repair cost cover such a major repair? I have found posts that kinda imply it is covered but I would like to know for sure before I send it in.

Yes it does we have seen a few with screen repairs.

While I have the SDS100, not the SDS200. How does the display degrade like that? Is the glass, itself, or. Is it something to do with the circuit board, or. Even both?

Oh, So only the desktop/mobile models are susceptible, not the handhelds?

no the 436's used the same leds

My SDS 200 is on almost all of the time. I have taken to turning off the screen at night (when just monitoring the local FD pages). So I assume it is just worn out. My 100 is usually dark to save battery.
