wondering if anyone has a list of FBI freqs for the NJ area? Heard in Jersey CIty that the FBI requested no uniformed PD units in the area of a place in JC because they were waiting for a guy who did an armed robbery earlier. Someone got his plate so they knew the address and were waiting. i know, FBI probably encrypted, but just wanted to check it out. thanks.

Here's some NYC Area Federal frequencies I have heard in use:

NEWARK FBI 169.97500 PL 167.9 D
NYC FBI 172.47500 PL 167.9 D
BoP CH. 4 170.82500 PL 167.9 D
US CUSTOMS 165.23750 PL 100.0 D
UNKNOWN 170.55000 PL 167.9 D
UNKNOWN 172.32500 PL 167.9 D
UNKNOWN 172.52500 PL 167.9 D
UNKNOWN 414.30000 PL 167.9 D

Some of the VHF frequencies (except 169.9750 MHz, 172.4750 MHz, 170.8250 MHz, and 165.2375 MHz) may be slightly off frequency. The "D" after each listing means I have delay turned on for that channel.

As stated in the identical topic in the New York State segment of this site, none of these are used for meaningful or interesting operations by the FBI (based on my direct contacts with NYC/NJ operational personnel). SCANdal, as a Communications officer would know of open links to his department as well. They have their own extensive list of heavily encrypted capabilities and do not use corrections or customs "in the clear" channels, frequencies or trunked systems. There is also extensive use use of cellular phones. While some of these non-FBI agencies may be interesting to listen to, don't plan on hearing those guys that are talking into their cufflinks cause you'll have a hellava long wait.

Here is the NY thread in it entirety for for detail. http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33288

Everyone and thier grandmother is hip by now that you can't hear any real FBI field agents anylonger. The frequencies that get redundantly re posted to FBI threads for "HEARING FBI AGENTS" are as useless as fleas are to a dog .If you showed the list to a real FBI guy he would laff real hard in your face and say "Oh YES please do listen to those in your scanner"Ha Ha (falling off chair, slapping knee,Dropping Nextel unit on the floor!)
Has tho not yet learned from firing shots thru ones foot? What F B I stands for???
FAR from BEING INTERCEPTED on scanners!!!

elk2370bruce,

Good posting, but next time it might be wise not to divulge the occupation and employer of SCANdal.
His bosses could be reading your post and they amy not be too happy with him posting on this board.

Thanks

The Newark FBI frequency is quite interesting to listen to. I've never heard any encryption used on it at all.

EDIT: I've also heard the FBI tailing cars on the NYC FBI frequency, in the clear.

And what did you hear? Anything juicy or just routine vehicle checks or even "bring me back a large regular and a Boston Creme". Come on, we work with these guys from time to time and have some direct experience. We even have one person who is professional involved as a communications engineer (Hillbilly). Point is that nothing of any substantive value is on these repeaters and FBI "clear"interoperability with other feds is amusing at best, simple foolish at any realistic level. Nothing can change this reality no matter where you have posted it or the continuing attempts at self-justification when confronted with facts that does not confirm your supposition. Failure to do so will only hurt your already tarnished credibility and dwindling acceptance by more experienced people that populate these sites.

All I've heard was routine vehicle checks on the Newark FBI frequency, but I can't get it down here all the time. In both of my original posts, I never claimed to hear anything "juicy" on any of those frequencies. The two original posters asked for FBI frequencies, and I posted them (plus some other interesting federal frequencies).

I rest my case. Just one more example of poorly thought-out posting simultaneous to New Jersey and New York. As they say in amateur radio, Q R U: Queen Roger Useless. This problem will not go away and will only get worse until the lessons have been learned. A number of experienced listeners are growing ever less tolerant. Learn from the mistakes and move on.

I don't know what kind of feud is going on with joseph11 and you guys but I have to back him on this one. When I am working I always have a set of scanners or two ways running on either fed or milcom frequencies. There is quite alot of comms still in the clear and it can be quite interesting. Many times one of the guys radios in an operation won't have a correct encryption key loaded or it wasn't updated and everyone has to operate in the clear. Right now it is a mix of analog and p25 repeaters and yes sometimes the p25 will be in the clear. The feds will never put anything like you say "juicy" over the air but I have heard some interesting ops go down. Like I said I don't know what this feud is about but Joseph11 just answered the first guys question with some good current frequencies.

There is no feud. Just making repeated attempts (here and elsewhere)at getting some improved maturity of posts from this individual -- both qualitatively and quantitatively. Parting shots, like the previous one, are QRU and add nothing to the lesson about the efficacy of WAGS and poorly researched topics.

I believe you should check the maturity of your own posts before judging mine.

All you have to do is read what is being (and what has been oftern) suggested that you engage your grey matter and do the research before posting ill-conceived content. That is the root of posts aimed in your direction, not hatred nor envy. There are people here who have been involved with the scanning business for many years, a goodly number who are professionals in the electronics profession, and who have echoed my statements here, and elsewhere for your edification. Who is being petulant here and refusing to accept less than self-perfection? When in doubt, just challenge the maturity of those who dare to disagree with your self-perception. Hey, it works with your peers doesn't it? Don Quixote and his faithful Sancho Panza (immediate post above) can continue their current practices and we will continue to provide a reality check from our perspective. Your choice as to becoming a part of the solution to the problem or you can continue to sulk and feel put-upon. We (yes there is more than one) really could care less and will continue to burst the bubble of ill-prepared posts whenever they are listed.

Ok then you need to get a life and stop worrying about how people post.
