One to add to the list- some very cruddy weak whispers in western Worcester Co and in OC on 167.2375, $167 ENC. Not appearing to coincide with activation of the above repeaters.

Just to tack on another odd federal band thing I located, for any comments y'all may have:

165.4375 MHz FM CSQ (or no tone detected by scanner), CWID manually decoded as "S9WPVI98H".

Frequency shows as used by NPS in NJ as a repeater input (no output) and most frequently used as a CBP net frequency in NC and NY among several areas.

I also appear to be seeing a patch of OCFD 2 or OCFD 4 on 166.8375 MHz FM CSQ (or no tone detected by scanner).... could that be an image, maybe of the OCFD 2 VHF frequency?

Had also a few 356xxxx RIDs show up in conversation with the 848s.

Tacking on another federal thing, I caught some recordings this morning of Radio Maintenance units testing on what appeared to be USSS CHARLIE (165.375 $001) and USSS QUEBEC (166.700 $001), audible with some slight garbling from north OC. Not sure where it was coming from, but 1041000 was on CHARLIE encrypted, and 1021000 and 1022000 were on QUEBEC clear and encrypted doing radio checks.

And yet another thing- heard some crappy garbled comms on 171.6125 $207, 6 digit RID 518xxx and 7 digit 65411xx. No idea- freq shows mostly as used by the DOJ IWN, NAC is referenced as possibly used by NJ area DHS/ICE.

I too had Radio Maintenance come up on ICE National Direct frequency, in the clear on Monday

Similar radio IDs or different? I would assume each agency would be doing its own RM duty.

Well, that ends my curiosity about buying one.

Had a whisper this morning on WHCA SIERRA (166.5125 $001). Too crappy/short for a RID. Some really really good propagation lately, I sort of wonder if that might be drifting over from the other side of the bridge (I picked up USPP 2 as well, at about the same time).

And one solitary keyup with end-of-TX MDC on 173.600 FM CSQ, whatever that might be.

I keep getting weird stuff on 170.375 FM CSQ as well, sounds like maintenance workers. I can hear two interesting things- the low-high blip when the second unit PTTs that I remember from listening to NYPD and NYSP Troop T (haven't heard it in a WHILE), and far more strangely, DTMF radio IDs that occasionally show up at end-of-TX. Very odd, mostly sounds like building maintenance with no reference to the outside world, talking about welding and things. I wouldn't be perplexed if I was seeing this in the business UHF area, but in federal VHF, I'm confused unless my scanner's pulling a fast one on me.

I've been wondering that... it just seems so clear and consistent.
