I already clarified in posts #3 and #17.

127.3 PL has not been used in decades on 154.190, both boroughs were 186.2 for years up to the switch to UHF, and now with 154.190 resurrected, same thing.
Not used in decades is correct. My info was from 1990! At that time everything but Staten Island was 186.2.

Could it be something with the two volly companies (Richmond Engine & Ocianic H&L) still using them? paging maybe? I know they are disoatch by the SI Dispatch "office". Just curious.

From a friend that’s a volly member, the answer is no, they don’t get dispatched on the air. They do get toned inside quarters (tone alarm) and alerted via cellphone text.

No. It's the FDNY resurrecting the VHF frequencies as backups. I'm not trying to be a dick, honestly, but earlier posts in this thread already covered that.

Manhattan has been on the old Citywide frequency 154.430 since just after noon today, the usual 186.2 PL.

To be clear for those who require every detail: The Borough of Manhattan FDNY dispatch channel is now being multicast over VHF 154.430 MHz with a CTCSS (aka PL) of 186.2. 154.430 was previously the Citywide channel, with Manhattan previously on 154.250, which is currently silent.

I’m hearing the same transmissions on both FDNY vhf and uhf, so it appears to be a simulcast rather than a backup. (?) Do you know whether there is a plan to continue broadcasting on both bands? I just got back into monitoring NYC, so please excuse my being so out of touch. I did search for previous posts and found this one. Many thanks !
