'169.235' is 169.2375

The feds use 12.5 KHz channels. Your scanner apparently doesn't, in that band, and 'rounds off' to the nearest 5 KHz channel. That works fine for receive, but you should remember when writing down lists of frequencies that it's not the correct channel.

You may also find the feds or others using the even tighter 6.25 KHz splits (half of 12.5), which produces even odder looking entries, like 169.24375 (Which your scanner will display as either 169.240 or 169.245)

OK, I hear you as well as someone else that pointed that out the other day. thanks, I understand how a scanner rounds freqs up or down, I just wasn't aware the feds used 12.5Hz spacing :)

169.2375MHz 1010 Mode

hearing a lot of traffic on 169.2375MHz. (yes, 169.2375MHz) I heard a radio check from what sounds like two base units. then one said "let's try that 10-10 mode." everything from then on has been encrypted. everything was still analog and they would send the 100.00Hz tone at key-up. see link for audio.

VA Medical Center Fire Freq

Tonight I heard Fire dispatched from Berkeley County then heard an engine from VA Medical Center Fire Dept getting directions. I guess they respond when they are close.

Anyone have any more info?

165.2875MHz - Berkeley County

Recorded some in-the-clear P25 traffic this morning on 165.2875MHz. They were the tail-end of conversations. I have it listed as BATF.

170.0250MHz - Berkeley Co.

I have 170.0250MHz listed as FBI. I've been hearing simplex P25 traffic this morning starting about 7AM. I could hear one side pretty well and it was in-the-clear. the other side was not as strong of a signal and was encrypted.

More DEA Activity

sounds like mixed P25 and analog on various DEA freqs/channels. these were recorded while I was at work so I'm not sure of the signal strength, but they sound very strong.

according to the below link, "Flint 622" is DEA aircraft

http://www.milaircomms.com/mil_callsigns.html

not sure who/what "Rum Runner" is.

on their website, they list offices in Winchester, VA and Hagerstown, MD; both are close to me.

Got a new one to figure out. 407.600 P25 in the clear. Sounds like airport activity. Callsigns are Foghorn and Fullback, mentioned a departure.

1954- OK, maybe not an airport, but they always talk about departures.
1959- "Single arrival, scheduled."

I have it in Leesburg. If you have it in the rotation you should've heard something by now if you're in range.

Just heard-
Question: 'Where are you? '
Answer: 'Inside the restaurant at the bar.'

Mike and Travis, I'm thinking that at one time FULLBACK was State Dept. Security. Not sure if that's still the case or not.

I must not be in range since I haven't heard anything on that yet. next time I'm in the area I'll check it out.

I thought this one may have been discussed before, but a search turned up nothing. According to my spreadsheet I've received it previously.

408.4 PL 192.8

It a federal common freq, so who knows?

Heard "102B wing, looks like a control error, low alarm, I'll look up on the air handler and see if I can see anything on the other one." More discussion about air handler stuff.

Sounds like GSA or base maintenance. 408.400 is commonly paired with 418.050; anything there? 418.050/408.400 is also "US&R Channel 6 Command-1 (Repeater)", although I doubt USAR does much HVAC work ;^)

Just found 415.025 analog in the clear. I'm wondering if it is postal inspectors. A woman was run over and killed by a truck at the Dulles mail facility about 3:00pm.

I've heard:
"541 to Central-priority traffic".
"541 to 544- Information is too sensitive to pass over the radio, give me a phone call."
Sounds like a good bet it is the USPS.

Also had 414.75 P25 ENC recently too.

1849- The US Park Service comms on 409.05 sound like what I heard on 415.025. I can't find any record of 415.025 anywhere.

162.3375MHz

I just started hearing some encrypted P25 traffic on 162.3375MHz, about 2 bars on my 996T. its listed in the RR Wiki as FAA Channel 11 input.

I bet this is coming from Leesburg where there is an FAA facility off of RT7.
