Field Day Fails

I get it. I dislike hot/humid weather also.

But isn't the purpose of Field Day to be an exercise where amateur radio is supposed to show that it's ready to handle emergency communications? You know, "when all else fails"?

In my career, the emergencies/system failures rarely happen on nice days in the spring. Usually weather events, power outages, natural disasters, is what brings us out in the middle of the night.

Maybe keep field day, move it into the late spring. But the same clubs maybe need to have drills in mid-August and mid-January. Multiplier points if it's raining/snowing and the contacts are made between 1am and 4am local time.
