Hey y’all. Like the title says I finally sprung for a shiny new Uniden SDS100. Got it from a reputable company and had it programmed of course. Just wondering if anyone has any tips etc for scanning in my area. So far so good…I’m slowly doing little things with it. Any advice or help would be appreciated!!!

I reckon I might save up and buy whatever the next great thing will be!!!! But thanks…
I'm not sure what this has to do with the comment @jtwalker posted. Seriously. The best tip is to learn to program and make changes yourself. While I'm not on NC i travel there occasionally and also am contemplating moving there and try to keep an eye on the systems down that way.

Systems now a days are constantly changing and it's really in your best interests to know how to do that stuff on your scanner. Enjoy your new purchase.

Yes, tip #1 is learn to program it yourself and don't pay anyone to program it for you. Otherwise what are you going to do when things inevitably change in a few months?
Awesome. Thank you sir. Very helpful….👊🏼🤣

I was confused by his comment. Forgive me I can be a dumbass sometimes. I definitely plan on learning how to do as much as I can with it. And looking forward to doing so….thanks to you both.

@jtwalker is right. The more you become comfortable, with programming it yourself. The easier it will be to make/adapt to, any changes. When they do happen.

It is sort of, like. When you first get your Learners' Permit. Steadily you become more comfortable with driving on busier roads.

Here is an online manual for the SDS100: Easier to Read SDS100/200 Digital Scanner Manual

Here is an online manual for Sentinel: SDS Sentinel Software Manual

In my area, additions on talk groups, and sites being added and deleted. Also I occasionally travel to a different area to work in or play in and to me, Zip code scanning is pretty useless, I use favorites lists. Now, this isn't on the SDS 100 but on my BCD 436 when I had it and 536 which I still own. I couldn't even imagine having something like that I could not make changes in on my own.

Are you serious ?
Talkgroups added, changed or removed.
Control channels added, removed.
System upgraded to new technology (p16 to p25, analog conventional to DMR trunked, etc).
I was wondering what you mean about changing

Good to hear from someone else in Charlotte. I DID have someone program the Charlotte system for me, but have since learned to add to, change etc. since then. Also several Viper towers that have lots of traffic. Use Sentinel for programming and changes. Wonder if the new SDS150 will be worth the extra $$? May be a bunch os SDS100s listed for sale if folks think it is worth it.
