• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all,

First post ever here, hopefully it’s in the right spot.

A little background before the question I’ve got:
I work at an ambulance service and am authorized to use my own personal radio there, and have been given the LTR system info to put into my radio.

We have an all kenwood system, and I was given all the information we have for it: Area Code, Home Repeater, Repeater ID/TX Freq/RX Freq, and talk group encode and decode IDs

I have set up my old TK380v2 for this system before and had no issues with it, however it appears that the HT1550XLS I have wants more info than what I was given.

We do our radios in house, but it is an entirely kenwood system so unfortunately the guy who does it doesn’t know what to do for the Motorola I have.

I know LTR is old, but it’s what we got so it’s what I have to work with.

Now onto the question:

I have my HT1550XLS all programmed and capable of receiving with no issues, however when I go to key it up, nothing happens. I know I’m on range of our tower because the kenwood portable that my coworker has can hit the tower and it has the same output power.

I think I have something in the wrong field in the CPS, but I’m not sure what info from the kenwood system goes into what field in the moto CPS.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
KC1OJX

I'm everywhere Focker!
Does the Motorola do plain old LTR or Passport only? Been a long time since I messed with LTR on a Motorola.

I seem to remember there was a checkbox that had to be checked on the Motorola radios to get them to work properly on a standard LTR system. I think W55UOM is on the right track, but its been years since I have done this.

I think I am correct TX DATA INVERT
Checked this. didnt do anything, however the kenwoods have this checked by default. I wonder if there could be something else. I will do some more digging, but if anyone has any other ideas feel free to leave them here.
Thank you all!

hummm try inverting the Rx side leaving TX normal
ended up unchecking both the RX and TX side but changed the front porch time from 12ms to 16ms to be closer to the 15ms of the Kenwood system, and it worked. (i think, it makes the acknowledgment tone at the beginning of TX now so i think it works).
I want to thank all of you guys for pointing me down the path of looking closer at the actual settings instead of giving up. Thank you!!
