I used to be able to listen to my local school and bus frequencies, which are currently licensed on UHF frequencies. They have gone to digital radios. My question is how can I find out what they're using so I can continue monitoring? I assume since they are still operating off their existing license and frequencies that they may have gone to a trunked system. How would I go about finding the control channels for this? I have a PSR500. Thanks for any help you can give. The district in question is the Winnebago schools in Winnebago IL.

First try to monitor the frequencies using a digital decoder program such as DSD. It may or may not be trunked.

If they are still using the same frequencies, you should be able to just listen to them as conventional frequencies and hear the digital noise of a control channel on one of them. If you don't hear it, then they are not using the same frequencies.

If you do hear it, and its system type that a scanner can monitor, you can create a system in the scanner and enter the found digital noise frequency as your control channel.

It is possible its a system type not capable of being scanned with a scanner.
