I have a BC898T that I have the Fips codes programmed into. Question is , I put the scanner at night on Weather and set the alert , I have yet to hear a Fips alert......I understand they do test also as in weekly , etc. Is there a NOAA schedule for these test , I find it odd I've never heard the alert go off......if anybody has a 898T , am I doing it right , seems pretty cut and dried so to speak....enter the Fips Codes in and set it to alert.

I did that for a while.....back a couple summers ago. We had a line of severe weather come through. The alert is LOUD! Would wake the dead. Have you had any alerts that should have come through when you had it in alert mode? That'd be what I would check first.

hmm...maybe with the winter storms moving east you'll get a winter weather advisory or something. you have it set up right...just a matter of time before an alert is sent. I dont recall whether it was tripped by the tests or not. hope you get it figured out!

The National Weather Service performs thier weekly tests here in Kentucky, on Wednesdays between 10 and 11 AM.

Call your local office for more information. They can tell you for sure.
