When a big fire, like the Ok Ks fire in SW Ks, how the the different departments communicate with Incident Command, Do the department run on different event TG's, what do the departments not on KSICS do.? Is there a comms van? I would interested in seeing the behind the scenes story.

They will typically assign a Statewide Incident Command talkgroup. For the fires in SW Kansas, they were using ICS-12 TG 4025. I was listening from Topeka on multiple towers. The system is designed for any non-KSICS users to be patched to certain talkgroups via a "bridge" if they are on VHF or UHF conventional.

I saw that they had the CoW out by Meade, seems like the state must have been providing a site and radios.
