Hi,

I really enjoy listening to the Columbus Fire Dept, and I have a question. When they go to some scenes, the chief will say, stage out on Weber, or some street. What does staging mean?

Thanks,
Colin :D

It means park your rig and stay with it until you are needed on scene.

They tend to have a staging location for the 8 F&P Calls or larger scale incidents.

In the case of an 8 F&P Call, they will 'stage' around the corner or down the street until the scene is secured by law enforcement and they are requested on scene.

Yes. Every few months or so. Plug, since I'm in FirePage Ohio, and we have quite a few dispatchers/members in taht area, I know some stuff about how things work in the area. Not a whole lot. But, enough to be dangerous. :D

The term and action of "staging" is a very common term for Fire & EMS. I'm confident to say it's used nationwide, at least in Alaska also.
