The New Jersey Metro Fire Photographers voted the other night in favor of separating from the radio system. NJMFP Radio will now be known as Fire Radio New Jersey. The radio administration will remain the same, as will the frequencies and tones to listen in for non-users. The change will be reflected in the database.

There is NO simulcast. That is, radio traffic on Hackensack is not broadcast on West Orange, nor is West Orange radio traffic broadcast on Hackensack.

West Orange is intended to "reach" into areas that the Hackensack repeater does not cover (the repeater's transmitter can't be heard and/or the repeater's receiver can't be accessed by mobiles/portables). Could be used for fires in any County, not just specific to those in Essex County.
