State Fire Marshalls are sworn members of the Maryland State Police. Although they generally operate with cell phones, their vehicles are equipped with MSP low band mobiles, and would communicate with whichever barrack they are operating near when necessary. Coordination (dispatch) of the on-duty and on-call FM is handled by the MEMA Joint Ops Center over the phone.

Nate, I hope I did you proud, and all of that was accurate!

Here on the shore the State Fire Marshalls are equipped with Motorola Digital 800 mhz radios. They can communicate directly with all three counties on the Upper Eastern Shore Consortium and Dorchester County.

All Fire Marshal's have MSP Low Band radios in their Cars, some regional offices have access to county radio systems that their regional offices serve. Mostly Nextel is used to communicate amongst State FM's.
