HP-2: Firmware

Does anyone know the firmware version the HP2 is on? My HP2 reflects 1.05 and the Sentinal version is 2.03 version 5.
When my HP2 is connected to the computer with the Sentinal software running it reflects the firmware is correct. Can anyone confirm that?

My HP-II firmware is 1.05.

My Sentinel is Version 2.03 (revision 02).

The HP website states "The latest version of Sentinel is version 2.03, released on November 10, 2014. Version 2.03.02 adds support for the HomePatrol-2."

I don't see any version 5 anywhere.

Thanks W8RMH. Since i am new at this ive tried to research before i ask questions, but it seems like there is hardly anything out there (to include unidens site) on the HP-II.

When i select the "about" in Sentinal is shows Version 2.03 (revision 5).
I looked high and low in unidens site but find very little about the HP-II and definitely don't find the firmware for the HP-II, though i do find comments about the HP-I which says to ensure your firmware is 2.02 or higher, hence why i was wondering about the firmware for the HP-II.

My HP-2:
Main FW version: 1.05
Sub FW version: 1.02

Sentinel version: 2.03 (revision 02)

You never said what your sub version is, but it appears your scanner is using the latest firmware. If you are asking why Sentinel is 2.03 when the scanner is 1.05, keep in mind they are two different products and the version will almost never be the same for both.

I was under the impression that the HP-I and HP-II are the same scanner except for how the batteries are charged and that the HP-II will decode Phase II.

The HP-1 and HP-2 are different products and will have different firmware revisions (odds are the HP-1 will always be higher since it's been out longer). you cannot mix-n-match firmware between the two just as you cannot mix-n-match firmware between any different Uniden models. You won't find any firmware updates for the HP-2 because none have been released yet.

Sentinel automatically detects and uploads the correct firmware anyway.

That is the version for your software (Sentinel).

To see the firmware version installed on your HP-2:
- On the HP-2 itself, select Menu
- Advanced Menu
- Down arrow
- Version information

I would delete and reload Sentinel from the website. That may be a test version that was posted to address a PC file system error that removes the safeguards that prevent accidental erasure of the C drive. If it is, you REALLY don't want to be using that. It was never posted as a regular release.
