Hello All.
I have FreeScan loaded and running as it should be and it recognizes my scanner. I see my scanner is capable of "Rebanding" and I know my scanner has Firmware version 1.03.00 and there is a new version (2009 I believe...) that among other fixes, it "rebands" for Motorola (I believe...). Have you done this, should I do this, could you please point me to a good description of the process? As I stated in my initial post, I am new to this new and very complex scanning world coming from the days of crystals as a young kid. Thank you for your thoughts and help.

Sincerely,
Rich

There is a Wiki here on RadioReference for nearly every major scanner model. The BCT15 Wiki has info on firmware and updating... as well as many other links -
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCT15
In addition, Uniden has an instruction page describing the firmware and update process -

Both of the above also appear when you do a Google search for "Uniden BCT15 firmware update".

I am sorry popnokick...
I never answered and thanked you. I did get the firmware loaded and my scanner is now working. Thank you.

Alright! Enjoy it... and good luck with your antenna plans. The attic antenna is a compromise, but will work WAY better than the telescoping antenna that it came with. Also, did you know you can put one of these antennas together for about $15 and 30 minutes or so? It's an easy way to check out how an attic antenna will work for you, and once you run the coax up there you can re-use it if you don't want to continue with the super easy and cheap antenna (scroll down to the wire version shown in the Wiki article) -
