Geetings! I am wondering if anyone has had luck using a retractable flag pole like one you purchase on Amazon for a tower. My thoughts were to cement the base in and use a paracord to secure it. Looking at either 20 ft or 30 ft. I am looking for anyone that has had luck with this venture and tips or tricks.

The link below is an example of what I am looking at purchasing.

My 2nd thought was a a non retractable with more of a galvanized steel and spend the extra $200.

Harbor freight has a similar one for less money. I modified the one I bought so I could run my coax down the inside where it's out of sight. It's sits slightly elevated so the cable can drop straight out the bottom. I don't care what they say in the add, your antenna's weight and the weather will determine if the sections stay up or slide down. Another option is to install pins where the sections meet to keep them in the up position.

Thanks for the information! Thats good to know about the weight and sliding. I was kinda worried about that with the weight.

I’m using a solid 1 piece 30 foot flag pole that i attached another 20 feet of aluminum conduit to for my neighborhood GMRS repeater. Total of 50 feet, no guy wires needed. It’s held up in 90mph winds already without issue. I did however secure the flag pole to the garage and buried it a foot in to the ground.

Thanks for the info. Looks great! I ordered a flag pole which should be here in a week. I am going to use concrete and sink it down a foot.

That one doesn't look too good unless you plan on using guy wires.

I skipped that one, I went with a bigger non retractable one with a thicker diameter. I was a little worried with that one. But I do still plan on guy wiring just to be safe.
