Is there a limit as to how many times the flash memory can be written to? I ask because I'll write over a thousand channels with minor edits every month or so to my 325P and 396XT using ProScan. I just don't want to wear out what may be a finite write capable chip.

It's kinda like asking how many miles you can get out of a set of tires.

For the scanner purposes, it depends on the type of SD card you use. Some memory cards "tolerate" more read/write cycles, such as "High Endurance" cards. Of course none of them last forever and you should figure on replacing them eventually.

Opinions will vary, but I recommend: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...r_032g_an6ia_high_endurance_microsd_32gb.html

At $8.99 per card, they are quite inexpensive (I remember just a couple of years ago, they were $30+).

I am seeing these cards are getting larger in capacity and 32 GB is about the smallest offered these days.

Except that he asked about the 325P2/996P2, neither of which use a microSD card.

What I meant was the internal memory chip that holds the data.

Without me opening he scanner, anyone happen to know off hand what manufacture and chip it is?

For all intent and purposes, forever. Typical programable read only memory (PROM) have unlimited read cycles and 100's of thousands write cycles.

I looked at the chip for the BCT15x and that are probably comparable to other Uniden scanners that do not use a SD card.

High-reliability– Endurance: 1 Million Write Cycles– Data Retention: >100 Years
