At 12:14:00 the Ontario Provincial Police experienced a complete radio failure.

ALL the radio talkgroups for Ontario Provincial Police West Region Talkgroups switched to 1TAC01 and were assigned to the other OPP Tactical Talkgroups, units are 10-3.

Comm Sergeant stated "we are experiencing a radio failure. This is not an excercise. All units are on their own until the situation is rectified"

Failure at London Comm Centre

Sounds like a communication failure of some sort at the London Comm Centre. Pretty much all traffic has been moved over to 1TAC01 thru 04, depending on region. Lambton and Huron are on TAC03, Elgin, Middlesex, Perth are on TAC04.

Maybe someone found a fibre optic line with an excavator?

According to Orillia PCC, London PCC has lost Communications and Orillia has lost Simplex and may lose OPS channels. In the event that this happens, officers are instructed to switch to 1TAC05 for further information

Any idea if its just the West Region thats affected, or all of Zone 1?

although theoretically, if London did lose OPS channels, couldn't they switch to OPP 1REDSW? isn't that sort of what its there for?

Sorry folks - not familiar with the specific system - trunked right? If so, does it have any type of "failsoft" configured? What do you hear if you program the system/site frequencies as conventional channels?

Not in failsoft or site trunking. My guess is the issue is with the consoles. The dispatchers have lost several TGs AND simplex channels

I'm here a lot
We had three separate threads for this topic. I have merged them into this thread and they are displayed chronologically.

Thanks for your participation and it is good to know that the Comm Centres are back up. :)

Not sure what's up tonight... Just got in and I'm getting Essex and Brant on the London/Byron tower and the comms are with Orilla Comm Center.

Last night an Oxford EMS unit was doing a stat transfer into London Vic, CCAC advised the unit that it would have to switch to Provincial Common when is gets closer to London as Vic wants an update and that the Bryon tower was down for maintenance.

Spring site maintenance. Expect the occasional tower to go down for short periods for servicing.
